Watch list:
  • Heermann's Gulls, mid-July, followed by California, Ring-billed and others
  • Late in the month, watch for the arrival of early southbound shorebirds

Watch list:
  • Check Barview Jetty, Bay City Oyster Company, Oceanside and other spots for Black Turnstone with the occasional Ruddy Turnstone, Surfbird, Wandering Tattler and Yellowlegs
  • Watch the flocks of Semipalmated and Black-bellied Plover for Snowy and Golden Plover
  • Bayocean Spit is a hotspot for shorebirds from now through early October
