Watch list:
  • Waterfowl arriving at multiple locations - check bays and water treatment plants for Ring-necked and Ruddy Ducks and others
  • Check out wooded and brushy areas at Barview Jetty, Whalen Island, Fenk Road and Bayocean Spit (and many other locations) for migrant passerines
  • Good time to see Great Egrets and Great Blue Herons roosting together in trees - a tree full of Great Egrets is a beautiful sight!
  • Greater White-fronted Goose, Snow Goose and Cackling Goose (Nehalem Meadows), Cackling Goose at Nestucca NWR
  • Merlins start showing up late in the month

J. Drew Lanham to Give OBA Annual Meeting Keynote

Oregon Birding Association (OBA) and Washington Ornithological Society (WOS) are sponsoring a speaker for a joint virtual 2020 annual meeting.  Dr. J. Drew Lanham, Distinguished Professor of Wildlife Ecology at Clemson University. The keynote talk and the OBA annual business meeting will take place virtually on the evening of September 12, 2020. No charge. Information on time and how to join the meeting will be sent to OBA and WOS members.
