Rarities:
Lesser Nighthawk (Chordeiles acutipennis). Reported April 6, 2021 by Annika Andersson at Goose Point near Bay City. This is a first county record, if accepted, and appears to have been well seen and documented by several observers.
Horned Puffin (Fratercula corniculata)- Reported February 15, 2021. Cliff Cordy had distant but definitive views and photographs of this true rarity for our county. Seen in the channel near the parking lot of Barview Jetty.
American Tree Sparrow (Spizelloides arborea)- Reported November 14 2020. A continuing regular visitor at and around a private residence in Cape Meares Village this fall and early winter. Reported by Kevin Scaldeferri and seen by many observers.
Sandhill Cranes (Antigone canadensis) November 14 2020. Reported by Nolan Clements. Three individuals seen and photographed at and around the Tillamook Airport fields in November into early December by several observers.
Lewis's Woodpecker (Melanerpes lewis)- October 5, 2020 Reported by Jules Evans at Nehalem Bay State Park. This individual was seen later the same day and the following day by at least four additional observers. This sighting is believed to be the first for this species in Tillamook County.
