Watch list:
Mid-month shorebirds begin to arrive along the coast and at Nestucca Bay NWR (NBNWR), massive flocks of Canada and Cackling Geese gather before heading north to breed.  All sub-species can be seen at NBNWR during this time. Other birds to watch for include:
  • Cinnamon Teal - Tillamook Bay
  • Whimbrel - Tillamook Bay
  • Lesser Yellowlegs - Tillamook Bay
  • Marbled Godwit - Tillamook Bay
  • Red-necked Phalarope - Tillamook Bay
  • Tufted Puffin - Cape Kiwanda, Cape Meares, Three Arch Rocks
  • Pacific-slope Flycatcher - NBNWR, Coast woods
  • Northern Rough-winged/Cliff Swallow - NBNWR, Proposal Rock
  • Purple Martin - Tillamook Bay, Bay City Oysters
  • Orange-crowned/Yellow Warbler - Coast woods
  • Common Yellowthroat - Neskowin Marsh Tsunami trail, Nehalem Meadows
  • Black-throated Gray Warbler - Neskowin, NBNWR, Hoquarten Slough
  • Wilson's Warbler - Neskowin, NBNWR, Munson Falls
