Sad to say, but the "pwip" and rising, fluting sound of the Swainson's Thrush seems to be over for the year, and the Purple Finches also have not been evident around the feeders or in the air this last week or so. Still many Brown Pelicans in evidence in Netarts Bay. There were some Semipalmated Plovers at Bay Ocean Spit yesterday, as well as some unidentified peeps in the distance. We had a solitary Red-necked Phalarope in a marsh along Netarts Bay Road this evening. Although you wouldn't know it from the weather, fall migration is starting to begin.
